Charge to the Citizens’ Facilities Study Committee

 

The Purpose of the Committee:

  • Analyze the Facilities Needs of the Children
    • Identify areas of overcrowding
    • Identify areas of obsolescence
    • Consider curriculum and grade alignment impact
    • Determine necessity for additional sites
    • Needs identification should include all groups to ensure broad-based support
  • Review Architectural Options to Address the Facilities Needs
  • Review Financing Alternatives with Financial Advisor
  • Review Bond Election Timetable to Address the Facilities Needs
  • Prioritize the Facilities Needs of the Children
  • Prepare and Present the Committee’s Recommendation to the Board of Trustees

 

Initial Organizational Meeting:

  • Elect a Chairperson
  • Review Purpose and goal of the Committee
  • Confirm Date to Present Recommendation to the Board of Trustees
  • Establish Meeting Schedule (e.g. Thursdays at 5:00 p.m.)
  • May choose to elect a Secretary to record the minutes

 

Subsequent Meetings:

  • Tour of Facilities to Assess What We Have
  • Discussion of Demographics and Enrollment Trends
  • Discussion of Spaces Needed and Repair/Renovations Needed
  • Analysis of Alternative Solutions to Needed Spaces
  • Cost Estimates for Alternative Solutions and Discussion of Financial Impact
  • Prioritization and Formulation Into a Recommendation
