The ever changing email problem
The world of emailing and spam is controled by lists called "Black Lists." These are lists of spammers that should not be able to send email. The problem is that if someone sends out an email to 1,000 people and says that it is from muleshoeisd.net, we can get put on a "black list." We are constantly trying to monitor the different lists that are out their to make sure that we are not getting blocked, but it is an ever changing world. One day everything will work great and the next day we can get rejected. We are trying our best to watch these lists and get removed from them as soon as possible, but it is impossible to never get blocked.
Recomendations: Do not have just one email account, have a number of them. If one account gets blocked send from another. This is a difficult issue because no one want hundreds of junk emails aday, but no one wants to gt blocked either. So this is just the imperfect compromise that we have to deal with.

I can not send to a certain email address(es)
Well, we do not block outgoing emails. Most companies
do not block outgoing mail, what we do block is incoming spam. If your messages are in fact being blocked by a "filter" it is run by the network admin's of the person you are sending to. We cannot unblock your messages from their servers. The only other problem
that could happen on our servers is if your messages are to big (i.e. you are trying to send
several high resolution images). If that is the case try sending them one
image at a time. Most email accounts have a size limit, so you can not send 50 pictures to a friend, that are each one meg in size. If you did, it would lock-up our servers and/or be rejected by the recipients servers.
Other potential problems could be that email address no longer exists, or their mail box is full and they are not able to get further email. Usually it is a filter issue on their servers.
The bottom line is that if you are being blocked from sending email to someone, then they will have to fix the problem because we do not block outgoing emails. One solution would be to call them up and ask them to unblock you or find out if they have a different email address (gmail, hotmail,.. ) that you can send to that would not be blocking you. Another solution might be for you to send from a different email address (i.e. your gmail, hotmail, aol, account - you would probably need to do this from home since most of these are blocked so that students don't just send emails in class.)-

I can not receive emails from certain addresses
Well, some email that is sent to us is wrongly identified as spam. If you know the email address that you cannot receive from let the technology department know and we can make sure that any emails coming from that address are not marked as spam. But, we have to know the email address that is not getting through.
Often times we are told "I can't receive any outside email." Before you say this, make sure that you are right, because usually it is just one address that is not being received from and not the entire world. Try receiving from a number of different places and then report the address(es) that you cannot receive from.

I am receiving junk emails that are not good
There is not very much we can do about junk email, we are already trying to filter it out as much a possible. The problem is, spamers usually send from a different email address every time. So, there is no reason to block one email address because it will come from a different one next time.

I received an email from a bank and it wants my login info. What should I do?
Do Not Do This! This is called "phishing" and it is a fake to steal your account info and take both of your dollars. Never send your account information via email it is very unsecure. Some times the email will contain a link to click on and go to a web site to enter your information. Do Not Do This Either! Most of these type of scams will set up a fake domain that looks like the real one. For instance if they want your PayPal info they will set up a domain called “www.paypal.service.com” this is NOT a PayPal site, it is a sub-domain of the site “service.com” anyone can set that up. If you went to “www.paypal.service.com” it would look just like the real paypal.com site but it is just a front to steal your information

How do I protect myself from spam and email issues (Best Practices) Here are a number of suggestions:
- Never click on the "unsubscribe" or "remove me from mailing list" link at the bottom of the spam. Spamers send out millions of emails, most of them never go anywhere but if you click that link, they know they have your email address right and they will then sell it to other spamers
- Never click on links inside of an email. These are used for tracking purposes. If the link is www.domain.com/index.php?id=1234567890 everything after the "?" is data that is being tracked about you. If you really want to go to the site mentioned in the email either cut and paste the link into a browser(internet explorer) or retype it into the browser.
- Try to avoid using your "good" email address. Get a free one from yahoo or hotmail, then if you have to give an email address when you sign up for something, give them your "junk" email account. That way if it ends up getting full of spam you can just throw it away and get a different free one.
- Try to avoid having your email address on the internet. There are a lot of software harvesting programs that search the internet for email addresses just to send them spam. If you have to have it on the internet write it more like this:
rstuart ( at ) muleshoeisd ( dot ) net
That is harder for the harvesting programs to find but a human should be able to figure out how to send to it.

I received an amazing email is it True?
No
Well, most likely not. People create hoax emails all the time to see how far and wide they will travel. Assume, that it is fake until you can prove otherwise.
Example:
- I am the king of Zimbabwe and am looking for a nice christian to distribute my millions of dollars to other nice people, you can keep some for your self. I just need you bank info so that I can transfer money to your account.
- Check out the 20' foot long cat from Chernobyl.
- You will get cancer from eating food that was microwaved with Saran Wrap
