Pride ... It's A Mule Thing

Fine Arts

At Muleshoe High School we take great pride in our Fine Arts program. We want all of our students to be involved in something for our school, and our Fine Arts program creates many more opportunities for our students to become active. Also, the program takes teenagers and helps to create a well rounded student out of them in all aspects. The Fine Arts program consists of: our art classes and club (Mulestrators), our Spanish program and Ballet Foklorico, Speech/ Debate, One Act Play, the Theatre program, the band, and the choir here at Muleshoe High School.

I know you are probably thinking that it is pretty tough to support this big of a group financially, but we have set up many different budgets for each different group. Also, the Fine Arts program is financially aided by Muleshoe’s Fine Arts Boosters, which make money by taking care of the concession stand during football games, and raising money by other fund raising type activities. Also, the kids that are active in Fine Arts can work on Friday nights, with the boosters and make money to help aid with their personal finances, for program trips. The students also do many fund-raisers to help them, as a group and individually with the finances.

Our Fine Art programs put on performances for our community and school several times every year. We have a performance by the Spanish club every year on “Cinco De Mayo.” The One-Act play performs their play once every year for the community and school, before they compete with other schools. The art clubs work is displayed in the school library throughout the year. Also, annually we have our Fine Arts “Night to Shine Program.” At this program there are performances by: the band, the choir, the One-Act play, the Ballet Folklorico. Also, the art work done by students is displayed in the high school cafeteria. Everybody is invited to watch, and also enjoy refreshments made by the parents of students active in the program. It is great for our community, and there is usually a pretty good turn out for every performance.
