Biographical Information
I currently teach business and computer classes at Muleshoe High School including BCIS I & II, Accounting & Advanced Accounting, and Desktop Publishing. My entire 13-year teaching career has been at MHS. I absolutely love my job. I like working with teenagers and experiencing the joy and challenges they present each day. I also enjoy learning new things about technology and helping the teachers on my campus feel more comfortable using it. In addition to my regular classes, I am Small School Academic Competition (SSAC) coordinator, Academic UIL coordinator, contribute to the TAKS Academy each spring, have been trained in ITV teaching techniques, serve on the district technology committee, and provide occasional technology related staff development for the teachers in my district. I recently completed required technology graduate classes and received a Technology Applications certification. I earned a BBE majoring in Marketing and Vocational Distributive Education in 1987, and a ME majoring in Secondary Education (emphasis on administration) with a minor in math in 1990, from Eastern New Mexico University. I graduated from Portales High School. I married Weldon Smith in 1987. We moved to Muleshoe in 1990 when I began teaching at MHS. Weldon works for Bailey County Electric Coop and is a varsity basketball referee. We have a ninth grade son, Cade, and a fifth grade daughter, Skyler. |
